45 DESIGNERS - History of type

HISTORY OF TYPE

ILL STUDIO

I chose this piece as the font is very modern and a style this is popular at the moment. It shows how far typography has come and how much freedom we have with it today to play or manipulate it.

hello me

This typeface created by Hello me is a very simple clean typeface, with a very simple modernist style poster to show it off.

Dan cassaro
"HIGHWAY is an attempt to capture the charm of hand-done early to mid-century type, the kind of beautiful lettering that happens when a human hand tries to recreate something mechanical. Created during (and inspired by) a cross-country roadtrip, Highway may very well be the first typeface created in the back of a camper. Tons of alternate characters, ligatures, and OpenType sorcery make for endless custom lettering for logos, signage, and seminal prog-rock double albums. Roll on, Babes. "

This is a typeface that has been created by Dan Cassaro, it was strongly influenced by old woodblock style letterpress. I decided to include this work as it shows that even though times and technology are moving on, the old style typography is still very popular.

Solution

This is work to show how illustrative you can be with typography now. You don't just have to stick to how typography is seen, you can now adapt it to however you want it to be seen and to give whatever message you want it to give.

Siggi Eggersson

This is a very digital typeface created by taking a standard typeface and altering it on the computer to give it a very digital look.
