COP2 : THOERY INTO PRACTICE - design development / clarified concept

I have decided to use the format that I researched in the last post where the publication looks like one but seperates out into 3.  

Format :

This is how the publications will look when it is all together.

This is how the publication will look when it is seperated out. The larger booklet will be to showcase the music videos of said pop star. the middle size will be to showcase the cd art work as it is square and will fit the format of a cd. The smallest booklet will be to showcase quotes from the popstar.

CLARIFIED CONCEPT :

I will make three publications, which will breack down into three smaller publications. So one publication will be about :

Beyonce and will break down into

music videos - album artwork - quotes

Rihanna publication which will break down into

music videos - album artwork - quotes

Lady Gaga which will again beack down into

music videos - album artwork - quotes

The context for the publication will be the gardian newspaper suplement

Beyonce :

I am going to start off by looking at Music videos. I have downloaded every music video done by Beyonce, Lady gaga and Rihanna and then broken them down into stills which equaled hundreds of thousands of images, so I will not blog them all, I will whitle down the selection and then blog after.

I have started with Beyonce selected images from her music videos that highlight the male gaze.

Baby boy -

Baby boy is a classic example of the male gaze, Beyonce is the sexy female who is there for the entertainment of the mail. The video starts off with the male who the male viewer can then relate to and put themself in their position and be in the video with beyonce. She is willing the male gaze, she wants the males attention. This video is very sexual beyonce is placed on the bed in an erotic fashion, which the male can make their desire. There are many zoomed in parts of the video where the camera pans in on parts of beyonce's body that is deemed sexual, this is making it ok for the male to look upon Beyonce. This video is all about pandering the male gaze.

Beautiful liar -

Beautiful liar is another video that panders the male gaze Beyonce is once again a very sexualised object for the male to look upon. Theres many zooms in of the body and parts of the video where beyonce is hidden but her body is on show like when her eyes are hidden but her body is the main focus making the gaze automatically.

Work it out -

Design development :

Each popstar is going to be assigned a colour that is relevent to them, and this colour will be a clear focus.

For Beyonce I have chosen the colour Purple as she is seen as being Royal, she is Queen Bey. So the royal purple is the colour I will be using.

This is the swatch I have used to decided what colour to use. The top left is my favourite out of the batch. I think it will work best as it is bright and bold, but not garish.
